i like to drink tea when i come in to the office. i drink at least two cups a day, which is probably not the healthiest habit.  to depend on the caffeine of black tea. but, oh well. 

i went up to c + e to get a teabag of english breakfast from rachael, and then proceeded to make tea in the break room near there.  so i pour the hot water (that break room happens to have the fastest water) and you know, am going to put milk and sugar in.  no sugar packets. okay, i’ll use the can of sugar, even though it’s not as easy to measure.  no spoons.  well scratch that, how can i measure how much sugar i use if there’s no spoons?    i  go down to the upstairs south breakroom, and put in my two sugar packets.  stirring it?  well, i have to use a knife.  no spoons there either, just a note in the drawer asking for them to put more spoons and less knives and forks. milk? there’s a partial jug of milk; at least there’s not none.  [i don’t think doing double negatives like that is gramatically correct. oh well.]

but now i sit at my desk in web marketing, drinking my very nice cup of tea.  thankfully every cup of tea doesn’t have this much drama attached to it. 

and this is why i’m glad that the coffee angels (who are also ninjas) clean and restock the breakrooms each wednesday.

This afternoon Sharlena took Emily, Jenny, and I out for tea at the Into My Garden Tea Room in historic downtown Plano.  And, it was a surprise birthday party for me!  My very first surprise party.  [I’m turning 16 on Sunday.]

I wore this lovely big hat.

And Emily wore a hat as well.

So did Jenny.

And so did Sharlena.

We all had pomegranate raspberry green tea, which was delicious.  There was also a lovely assortment of scones, breads, cakes, and chocolate.

All this loveliness put us in a Pride & Prejudice mood, so we went to Sharlena’s house and watched it.

Thanks for taking us out, Sharlena!  I had a wonderful time.

including, the new mexico tea company, full of lovely loose leaf tea in canisters, at which i took no digital photos.  why, you ask? because film is better.  at least, film slrs are better than digital compacts.

and secondly, the boba tea company.  lovely casanova smooches.

and, in that lovely part of albuquerque (by unm) there was a buffalo exchange, an urban outfitters, and a camera + darkroom store.  i need to go back.

tea and scones

this morning melissa made chamomile scones.  i made whipped cream, and as it whipped i read anne of green gables.  the part where she’s forgetting things as she’s cooking.   and, as fate would have it, i forget my whipped cream.  it whipped far too long and was close to becoming butter.  but it looks rather like clotted cream, which is kind of what we were going for.  irony much?
